On October 29, the ‘SECUriTy Assessment for Readiness’ foundation ceremony was held with experts from industrial, academic and research sectors attending at the International ConferenceRoom on the 16th floor of the Korea Technology Center. SECUriTy Assessment for Readiness, which has been enforced in full since November following a two-month pilot assessment, is a self-regulation system of the private sector to diagnose information security levels of companies and to suggest necessary improvement plans.
‘SECUriTy Assessment for Readiness’ is used to assess a company’sinformation security readiness using 30 assessment indices that include such items as the ratio of security investment, human resources and organizational expansion, privacy protection and law compliance, and then rate a company (five rating scales of AAA, AA, A, BB and B). As this assessment identifies the information security status ofan organization using objective indices, it is anticipated to contribute to efficient handling of information intrusion accidents and risks through supplementation ofthe vulnerable areas. In addition, as the service fee is by and large lower than other certifications, a larger number of small-scale companies, which felt the high cost of assessment burdensome, are projected to participate in the assessment.
