At the first meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-19 (APG19) held from July 26 to 28 in Chengdu, China, Dr. Kyu-jin Wee from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) was elected as the APG-19 chairman, and Dr. Kyung-Mee Kim from the National Radio Research Agency as the chairman for Working Party (WP) 2 (Broadband Applications in the Mobile Service). WRC is the most significant event for those involved in each country’s radiocommunications field, meeting every four years to make decisions on key issues in the radiocommunications industry such as the global distribution of frequencies, the designation of bandwidth for global mobile communications, and standards for anti-interference between countries. APG-19 is the Asia-Pacific region’s preparatory group for WRC-19, which aims to foster and coordinate common views among Asian Pacific countries, thereby ensuring that the best interests of the Asia Pacific region are represented at WRC-19. The APG-19 chair will take leadership of the group until WRC-19, holding five meetings by 2019. |
