| ATSC-TTA MoU Signed | |

During the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2016 held in April 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, TTA signed a MoU with the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) for UHD standardization cooperation in the presence of the Vice Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning Choi Jae-yu and ATSC board members. TTA already signed a MoU with the ATSC in April 2010 for mutual cooperation for 3DTV standard development and distribution, and the two organizations built a close cooperative relationship, including incorporating a TTA standard on transmission-reception matching for terrestrial 3DTV in an ATSC standard. The gist of this MoU is to expand the scope of cooperation to develop and distribute terrestrial UHDTV standards and grant mutual licenses to use the other party’s standards freely. The signing of the MoU established foundations for cooperation between the USA and Korea to develop and distribute UHDTV standards, and it is expected to help Korea export its UHDTVs to the USA. |
