In March 2016, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) of the USA and TTA renewed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) which was originally signed in April 2005. By merging the Electronic Industries Association (EIA) and the United States Telephone Suppliers Association (USTSA), the TIA was established in 1988 as a non-profit organization and is the leading trade association representing global ICT industry through standards development, policy initiatives, business opportunities, market intelligence and networking events. The association established a cooperative relationship with TTA through a number of international conferences such as the Global Standards Collaboration meeting. Upon the renewal of the MoU, which primarily focused on general exchanges of information on ICT industry between the countries, it now includes additional provisions that provide for possibilities for mutual standard sharing to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two associations. Sharing standards with each other and being offered TIA standards free of charge will help them further strengthen their cooperative relationship.
