ETSI-TTA MoU Renewed | |
In June 2016, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and TTA renewed the MoU. The ETSI is a not-for-profit organization established in 1988 under the European Commission’s 1987 green paper on the development of the common market for telecommunications services and equipment. Its activities cover overall ICT fields including wired, wireless, radio, convergent, broadcasting, and Internet technologies. The institute established a cooperative relationship with TTA through a number of international conferences such as the Global Standards Collaboration meeting, and the MoU was initially signed in 1992. The renewed MoU is basically the same as the previous one, which primarily provided for exchanges of standardization information but contains some updated provisions related to the ETSI’s and TTA’s similar standardization committees, which provide for continuous exchanges between the committees and mutual involvement as observers, thereby allowing for mutual participation in standardization and cooperative activities. |
