oneM2M specifications adopted as ITU-T international standards
The 33rd oneM2M Technical Plenary and ITU-T SG20 WP1 meeting was held in Geneva, Switzerland from January 15 to 24, and 15 of oneM2M specifications were consented to become ITU-T Recommendation. The oneM2M specifications consented at this meeting will be circulated among the ITU-T member countries for final approval within the first half of the year. Once approved, this will serve as momentum to distribute the common IoT platform throughout the world and vitalize various IoT related products and services. In particular, the standards adopted at this meeting were developed by incorporating Korean oneM2M member companies’ technologies in the key areas of the standards, such as interoperability, protocol binding and the semantics. These standards expected to facilitate local technology advancement into overseas markets.
Meanwhile, oneM2M IoT standards for smart vehicles and industrial IoT, which are currently being finalized, are also expected to be transposed as international standards as oneM2M plans to pursue the adoption of its future standards as ITU-T Recommendation.
