Workshop to Reduce the Standardization Gap as Part of a Standard Consultancy Program for Developing Nations

As part of a standard consultancy program for developing nations provided with a goal to strengthen the standardization capabilities of developing nations, TTA held a workshop for bridging the standardization gap for two days from August 25 to 26 in Bangkok, Thailand with around 130 attendants including government officials, experts from telecommunication providers and academic circles from 26 nations in the Asia - Pacific region. Organized in conjunction with ASTAP, a leading standardization body in the Asia - Pacific region, for the first time, this workshop provided opportunity to collect diverse and detailed opinions on important issues within the regions. In particular, it received great interests from the attendants by introducing and sharing with them the outcomes of a consultancy program on standardization and the confirmity assessment system targeting Brunei's Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI) by TTA in June. Jointly organized by ITU since 2010, this workshop is considered to have been contributing to improving of the standardization capabilities of developing nations in the Asia - Pacific region. The workshop for Asia-Pacific nations will  be held again next year.
