From July 6 to 10, TTA held a 3GPP SA6 5th meeting at the Novotel Ambassador in Seoul to develop application-layer standards for public safety LTE hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. 3GPP is a global standardization organization that promotes standardization of IMT2000, LTE and LTE-Advanced technologies. TTA has been serving as an Organizational Partner of 3GPP since December 1998. 3GPP SA6 is a working group that decides system requirements and scenarios for MCPTT, a core technology in public safety network implementation using LTE. The fifth meeting was very productive as a technical report for MCPTT consisting of an analysis on scenarios for MCPTT service implementation using the LTE network and a listing of available solutions and architectures, was completed. Also, work on a technical specification to define a functional architecture and information flow began as well. The technical report will be submitted as a key item for discussion at a workshop between 3GPP SA6 and the all working groups of CT to be held in Vancouver, Canada this August. The technical report has laid out a foundation for timely completion of standardization on LTE for public safety network. Finally it was agreed to complete technical specifications for MCPTT at the SA Plenary meeting to be held in September.
