TTA revealed the simulation code for 5G (IMT-2020) candidate technology evaluation, which was developed by the 5G technology evaluation project group (SPG33 chaired by Professor Oh Seong-jun at Korea University) under the TTA 5G special technical committee, at the 29th ITU-R WP5D meeting. SPG33 was registered as an ITU-R international evaluation group in July 2017 for 5G candidate technology evaluation activities, and it is dedicated to presenting orientations for scenario-specific 5G technology evaluations and simulations. There are 11 international evaluation groups registered to date, each of which will be carrying out conformity evaluations from October 2018 to February 2020 to see if 5G candidate technologies are in compliance with the requirements defined by ITU-R. The simulation source code for the IMT-2020 candidate technology evaluation was developed by Korea University and the TTA standardization committee agreed to release it at the international meeting to improve the accuracy of the evaluation through mutual verification and adjustment of the results with other evaluation groups. This is a strategic move to take the lead in relevant standardization activities ahead of the 5G candidate technology evaluations.
