FIDO International Conference

On December 6, 2016, TTA, together with the FIDO Alliance (Fast IDentity Online), held the FIDO International Conference at COEX in Seoul. This conference is hosted by the FIDO Alliance and organized by the TTA, FIDO Forum, and Privacy & Security Enhancement Forum in Korea and sponsored by the MISP (Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning). By inviting international and domestic scholars and experts from industries, academia, and research sectors in FIDO authentication technology, this conference aims to share next-generation FIDO authentication technology trends and hands-on tips from companies that have led real-world FIDO deployments.

At the conference, Brett McDowell, Executive Director of FIDO Alliance gave the keynote speech, Christiaan Brand presented a Google case study, and Koichi Moriyama presented a NTT Docomo case study. The conference provided opportunities for communication between domestic and international companies through presentations and discussions on TTA’s approach to promoting FIDO standards in Korea and domestic case studies of BC Card, Shinhan Financial Group, LG UPlus, etc.

TTA will make an effort to publish the FIDO standard commentary, build the FIDO Korea test laboratory, and support the domestic industry to enter the overseas market to promote the next-generation certification industry in Korea.

* FIDO was established in July 2012 to build an authentication system that uses biometric information such as fingerprints and irises, and conducts standard specification development and test certification. Currently, FIDO members are 270 companies including Google, Lenovo, MasterCard, and Samsung Electronics.
