2015 SmartMedia “X Camp” Held

From April 1st to the 3rd, TTA, together with the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, held the “2015 SmartMedia X Camp” in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do (about 60km southeast of Seoul). This camp was organized to encourage fair competition for new business ideas among small and medium scale venture companies and platform developers thus supporting commercialization and technological development of smart media services. This is a presentation-based contest where new ideas are selected through open competition. For this year, TTA added the “New Idea” category based on the 'HTML5-based Smart TV Platform (TTAK.KO-07.0111.R1)' standard it had established. Eight companies proposing new services gave presentations in a competitive audition format of which three were selected as primary service providers. Then, through a screening by an evaluation committee, two were selected as finalists: Busidol (http://www.busidol.com/ CEO: Yunu Lee) and DGMIT (http://www.dgmit.com/01_main/01_main.html CEO: Hyeoktae Gwon). The finalists will now develop their proposed services using TTA's standards with conformance to be verified by TTA. In addition, commercial service will be promoted within the year targeting paid broadcast receivers, such as KT and T-Broad’s, who are complying with the related standards. Through this event, TTA aims at enticing public interest and encouraging developers' participation in TTA's standardization activities so as to contribute to application of standard technology to the industry and development of a standards-based app ecosystem.
