2018 TTA-ITU cooperative BSG* project
As the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) runs funds and projects aimed to eliminate imbalances and gaps between the advanced and developing countries. Since 2008, ITU has planned and implemented a range of programs in cooperation with Korean government to bridge the standardization gap for developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region and is seeking to expand the domain of the cooperative projects beyond Asia-Pacific.

This cooperative project event was held in New Cairo, Egypt from May 6 to 8 and was organized with the subject of the Internet of Things (IoT), as oneM2M standard had recently been transposed to ITU-T standard (January 2018). TTA offered a training session on the oneM2M standard/technology and global testing and certification. The session moderator Lee Kang Hae, Head of the Standards Promotion Department at TTA, delivered a presentation on TTA’s oneM2M global testing and certification program. This was accompanied by local and international small and medium enterprises’ showcasing their IoT technology, which drew much attention from the event attendees and those from industry. TTA offered support to the small and medium-sized enterprises from Korea to find opportunities to extend their business abroad.
