K-ICT Standardization Strategy Map Ver.2016 Established and Presentation Held
  In order to respond to the rapidly changing ICT international standardization environment, TTA established its "K-ICT Standardization Strategy Map Ver. 2016" and held a presentation on November 9 at its building. The MSIP(Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning) and TTA selected 25+2 key technologies in April through preliminary survey and analysis, such as on the key items of leading organizations as well as an analysis and demand survey on the ICT policies of key countries. In addition, by organizing a technology standardization team with 431 members including CPs/ PDs from the relevant ministries and experts from the industry, academia and research sectors, TTA and the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning established standardization strategies for each of the key technologies from May to October.

  The standardization strategy map is an execution plan for the policies established by the MSIP that include the "K-ICT Strategy” (est. Mar, 2015) and "K-ICT Global Standardization Competitiveness Improvement Strategy” (est. Sep, 2015). Its purpose is to improve Korea’s competitiveness in standardization by providing domestic and international standardization strategies to the industry, academia and research sectors for key ICT technologies.

  The presentation, given to 237 attendants from businesses, universities and research centers, was comprised of an introduction, a review and a discussion of the detailed standardization plans including the results of an analysis of the domestic and international technology standardization environments by key technologies, the key standardization items derived, the domestic and international standardization strategies, and the plans to link technological development, standardization and intellectual property right activities. At the event, Director Kim, Jeonggi of the ICT and Broadcasting Technology Policy Division of the MSIP introduced the direction of the government ICT standardization policy through a congratulatory speech and asked the attendants to focus on strategic international standardization activities based on the standardization strategy map established. The MSIP and TTA will continue to reflect the opinions of experts into the strategy map and publish and distribute a booklet, an e-book and a file by December for utilization in the standardization policy establishment and domestic and international standardization activities.
