On April 5, TTA launched the world’s first testing and certification service to verify the oneM2M standard and interoperability, entitled “oneM2M TTA Verified.” oneM2M is a standard organization of the Internet of Things (IoT) founded in 2012 by the eight major standard developers in the world with an aim to resolve the interoperability issue among fragmented IoT standards. As a founding member, TTA has played leading roles.
While Korean companies have been active in developing a range of devices and services using the oneM2M standard, differences in how to apply and realize the standard have prevented devices and services from being interoperable, posing a big obstacle to business development. To resolve this problem, TTA organized the oneM2M Certification Standard Expert Council in December 2015 with Korea’s three major communication service providers that are leading the oneM2M standard in the country and relevant businesses including MODACOM. Essential functions of the oneM2M standard were selected, and testing methods and certification standards were developed by this council, leading to the launch of the testing and certification service.
TTA’s oneM2M TTA Verified sets a significant milestone that marks the starting point of converting individual IoT services to interoperable common IoT services and contributes to IoT companies’ global market development and strengthened competitiveness.
