The 16th CJK IT Standards Meeting Held in Jeju

TTA hosted the 16th CJK IT Standards Meeting1) at the Ramada Plaza Hotel Jeju on August 30 and 31. The meeting was attended by 35 people including the heads of the four private standards organizations in the three countries, standards experts in Korea-China-Japan IMT, wireless power transfer and information security working groups, and industry-university cooperation experts, intended to share the current issues on standardization in Korea, China, and Japan and identify measures for cooperation. In addition to technical considerations, the attendees also discussed inter-organizational cooperation, for example what standards bodies should do to keep up with the rapidly changing environments. At the meeting, an agreement was made to approve a technical report of wireless power transfer jointly prepared by the CJK WPT WG2) meeting held on August 28 and 29, and this will be submitted to the 22nd AWG3) meeting that will be held in Busan in September. In addition, TTA gave presentations on the importance of block chain standards and its standardization strategies and suggested cooperation among the three countries in this regard. Accordingly, a decision was made to organize an ad hoc group for block chain standards under the information security working group.
Furthermore, the attendees agreed to pursue standardization in relation to the urgent issue of 5G networking and to develop pilot services jointly with an aim to strengthen cooperation among the three countries in 5G standardization. As a measure to promote the penetration of the Internet of Things (IoT), the three countries also reached an agreement to take turns hosting events on the interoperability of IoT products and services and workshops for relevant industries, along with the oneM2M technical plenaries. The next meeting will be hosted by the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses and the Telecommunication Technology Committee of Japan in October 2018.
